Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Compliance Counsel to join our decentralized crypto exchange team. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Legal Officer and be responsible for developing and implementing the company's compliance strategy, ensuring that the company complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and managing the company's relationships with external regulators and auditors. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's compliance strategy, including policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments, assess their impact on our business, and develop strategies to ensure compliance.
• Manage the company's relationships with external regulators and auditors, including responding to inquiries and overseeing audits.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits of the company's compliance programs and operations, and develop and implement remediation plans as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks associated with new products, initiatives, and partnerships.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to the company's management team on regulatory and compliance matters.
• Oversee the implementation of compliance training programs for employees and partners.
• Conduct investigations into potential legal and regulatory violations, and develop and implement remediation plans as needed.
• Manage a team of compliance professionals and provide mentorship and guidance.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor or similar degree from an accredited school.
• 10+ years of experience as a compliance attorney, preferably in the financial services or technology industry.
• Candidates with the following traits will be successful in this role,
  • Extensive knowledge of AML/KYC regulations, securities law, and other regulatory frameworks relevant to the crypto industry.
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance strategies and managing relationships with external regulators and auditors.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and audits of compliance programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with decentralized technologies and cryptocurrencies is a plus.
  • Excellent drafting, verbal and written communication skills are required.
